8th March 2008 Ride

Rev Trev, Mrs Robinson and Vet Geoff met up at Digger Daves. Dave is progressing well and is searching for body armour for when he starts cycling again. We then set off for West Bay via Crewkerne, Mosterton and Broadwinsor. Here we refueled with variously filled jacket potatoes. There were miles still in our legs so we then travelled the coast road to Abbotsbury. Just before the steep descent into this idyllic "Hardy" village there is a spectacular view of Chesil Beach with Portland in the distance. Further on in Portesham Vet Geoff smiles beneath the sign to Hardy's Monument to prove we we there. The ascent form here to near the monument is one of the most arduous  we have experienced. We all managed it but that smile on Vet Geoff's face had well and truly gone by the time he had reached the top.  This ascent was paid back by a pleasurable descent into Winterbourne Abbas, in the pouring rain. Vet Geoff was doing the navigating today and in his madness decided to take us over another hill of the Dorset Downs into Maiden Newton. The return journey to Yeovil took us through Cattistock and Halstock.
Miles to day = 66 (according to Vet Geoff's cycle computer at least)
