The weather forecast for today was wet. Because we missed out on a ride last Monday due to the severe gales, we felt that as it was not too windy we would ride out what ever the weather. So if we were to weather the weather we thought at least we would avoid too many hill climbs. Our trip therefore took us down on the Somerset levels via Langport and on towards Bridgwater. Lunch was taken at the new livestock market near Junction 24 of the M5. In true rural style we enjoyed a magnificent roast pork roll with stuffing and apple sauce. Our return trip took us through North Newton, North Curry, Curry Rival and Drayton. These rides are not only to get us physically fit but also to assess our navigation skills. This was put to the test today with several periods of taking wrong turnings and/or splitting up. For good navigation to occur someone has to know where they are going, convey this to others and then them following. This did not always happen today. It is good this occurs now so that we can put systems in place to avoid it happening on the LEJOG. We eventually returned to Digger Daves very wet, bedraggled and a little "frazzled". Some coffee and bit of "mickey taking" soon put us all back together and looking forward to our next tip.
Miles today 46. Oh, and of course Rev Trev did 7 more. He makes sure we remember this.
