Mrs Robinson at work today. The other 3 Hasbeans cycled off to Wells to meet up with Nick our regular cycling colleague. After the hill between Somerton and Butleigh we enjoyed the Somerset Levels towards Wells. With the wonderful weather and quiet country roads we all felt we could not have been enjoying a better environment. Coffee was taken in the square at Wells after which we attacked the Mendips via Wookey Hole. We we got to the top, however, it seemed that the Mendips had attacked us, rather than us them! (see photo). We had a photo stop in Priddy at the site of the annual horse fair. Our photo shows the thatched pile of old ash hurdles and Digger Dave's new lycra shorts. No prices for guessing which are more photogenic! We then had the exhilarating experience of cycling down through Cheddar Gorge in wonderful weather. At the bottom Rev Trev's bike took a dislike to an old trade bike and proceeded to have a fight with it! Numerous containers of milk, other groceries and 2 cyclists crashed all over the road. However, they were restored to their original positions with little damage. Fortunately there was a pub close by where we were able to take lunch. Comments of hooligan cyclists enjoying themselves and a grumpy old man not looking where he was going, soon became something to laugh at. With bodies refueled and composure restored, we made our way home. We parted company with Nick near Westhay and returned to Martock via Shapwick, High Ham and Long Sutton.
Miles today = 64
