Saturday 12th April 2008 Ride

Today was a great day. This is the first time that all 4 of us have been out together since Digger Dave's accident on the 9th February. Dave is well and truly back in the saddle but we did not push our luck so tried to keep on the Somerset Levels. The start was delayed as Mrs Robinson had a puncture. Some of us are getting well practiced at repairing these and we were soon on our way in bright sunshine. Our route out took us via Muchelney and Curry Rivel. After descending down to West Sedgemoor via Heale Vet Geoff got the second puncture of the day. In his haste to pump up the repair he broke the valve and had to repeat the repair and change the inner tube. We were soon on our way cycling alongside the River Parrett through Stathe, Burrow Bridge and Huntworth. Lunch was taken at the Boat & Anchor which is alongside the Bridgwater & Taunton Canal beneath the M5. After refuelling we cycled into Bridgwater and then out leaving on the A39. On travelling over the M5 Vet Geoff had another puncture (see photo). Quite what he does to keep getting these we are not sure but he will probably be investing in some better quality tyres. We then made our way back home via Chedzoy, Westonzoland, Middlezoy, Othery, Aller, Langport, Long Sutton and home. The return ride saw peddling through rain and hail.
Miles today = 48. Dave's ridding is back to normal so his rehabilitation has been very successful.
